Hello friends,
Last week my family and I stayed over night at this beautiful historic, enchanting hotel called the “Broome Park Hotel” in Barham, Canterbury.
This is what it looked liked 🔽:
Isn’t it beautiful. My first reactions were not only “wow” but this is the perfect location for a period drama even in the back of the house looked like a mini version of “Pembley”which i am sure that every girl that has watched “Pride & Prejudice” would understand what I mean.
I like to stay in historical places rather than modern places . You can feel that there is a story everywhere you turn.
The history of the place was quite interesting. Shall I tell you? Well alright then. I will try not to bore you .
Here are the history of the place.
1. It was built by Sir Basil Dixwell between 1635 - 1638.
2. This house and all the land was passed down through generations.
3. The 1st Earl Kitchener , Herbert Kitchener bought the house in 1911 leaving it to his nephew Toby, Viscount Broome who took over the renovations after his uncles death.
Since then it has been a hotel where there is a golf course, other events that take place there including a “Michael Buble tribute night” ooh la la !!!
The next day we spent the day at Canterbury where we went to the “Canterbury catherdral where there were getting set up to record “Songs of praise” .
Very much cool in there as we felt the humidity was getting to us.
Seeing no new builds and seeing the old buildings I absolutely was in my element. We also went to a book store called the “Catching lives” which is also called the “the wonky book shop” believe me it was lol.
Sadly I didn’t buy books for myself but got my nephew, niece a kids book each. They were so pleased with what they got.
